Design and Maintenance of Platework and Vessels in Mines

CIM Bulletin1963
The process for which it is to be used is too often the only consideration in the design of a vessel. A design allowing for practical manufacture and erection, as well as for proper maintenance, can often give overall economies. Most platework installed today is of welded construction. Therefore, metallurgical control is important in its manufacture. Also, because many concentrating and refining processes tend to be corrosive, the subject of protective coatings as a part of the manufacturing process is extremely important. The plant designer should know how to evaluate and specify controls for the metallurgy and for the coatings
