CARL FAESSLER is a graduate of the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, at which institution he obtained the Ph.D. degree in 1923. In that year he was appointed Professor of Mineralogy at Laval University, Quebec, which position he still holds. During the summer months he has been associated with the Provincial Department of Mines as field geologist in charge of geological exploration. Dr. Faessler has been a Member of the Institute since 1932. He is a Member also of the New York Academy of Science and a Fellow of The Geological and Mineralogical Societies of America. Carl Faessler He is the author of numerous reports published by the Quebec Department of Mines and of many papers, which have appeared in Le Natttraliste Canadien, Economic Geology, University of Toronto Studies, and ocher periodicals.
