Strip Pit Mining in Coalspur Area, Alberta

WHEN one thinks of a coal stripping deposit, the picture that usually comes to mind is that of a more or less flat seam from two to twenty feet in thickness overlain by ten to fifty feet of overburden, in suitable ratio for economic operation. This is the usual type of stripping deposit and 1s quite a common occurrence in various parts of the prairie provinces.
