Prospects for Natural Gas in the St. Lawrence Lowland
THE St. Lawrence lowland between Montreal and Quebec forms an area largely underlain by stratified rocks. This is bounded on the north by the Laurentian plateau and on the south by the highlands of the Eastern Townships. Gas seepages have long been known within this lowland, and from time to time drilling operations have suggested possibilities for commercial production.
