The application of electricity and its principles to prospecting for minerals has now become well established. Having had more or less unprofitable experience, both serious and amusing, with 'divining rods,' the mining public received this new pair of spectacles with justified scepticism. However, like every new invention, the proof was in the pudding and with definite proof of its practical use by successful application, it soon received its due share of respect.
