PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS DEVELOPMENT IN ALBERTA
Owing to the greatly increased activity in the development of the oil and gas fields in western Canada, and in order to more efficiently administer the petroleum and natural gas and coal mining regulations and assist the operators in their development work, the Department of the Interior, upon the advice of Mr. 0. S. Finnie, Inspecting Engineer, in 1919, considered it advisable to open an office for their field engineers at Calgary. Later, it was found necessary to open a subsidiary office in charge of a mining engineer at Estevan, Saskatchewan.
