CIM Montreal 2015
Ian Thomson (SCI-Shinglespit Consultants Inc.)
The real costs of managing the often complex social aspects of mineral exploration and mining projects are described drawing on data from projects in the Americas and Australasia. Once understood, the challenges of building and maintaining positive relationships with local communities and other stakeholders can be translated into proactive management practices. Process is paramount: hence it is not what you do, it’s very much how you do it that creates the outcomes desired by both company and community. Detailed examples, lessons learned and recommended actions are provided for use on the ground.
