From Pit to Port - Delay Accounting and Optimized Logistics

CIM MEMO 2011
Abstract "Downtime systems" are ubiquitous, but these systems have today evolved into sophisticated delay accounting systems. Iron ore and coal miners in particular are utilizing delay accounting systems not as "equipment failure" systems, but rather as an indicator of the health of their overall processes.

This paper outlines the features of a modern delay accounting system and describes their application across the mining demand chain - from mine to plant to load-out to shipping. Some unique applications are described along the logistics chain for train load-out management and train journey cycle management and results presented.
