Penasquito Project – Achieving Success in Challenging Times

CIM Vancouver 2010
Abstract Penasquito project located in Zacatecas Mexico is one of the largest grassroots precious metal deposits to be developed in recent years. Goldcorp Inc. acquired the gold-silver-lead-zinc property with the acquisition of Glamis in 2006. The company has since committed US$1.6 billion to construct the mine, mill, and associated facilities. In the 3rd quarter of 2009, the first of two 50kt/d mill and flotation lines was commissioned while engineering and construction for line 2 continued. Line 2 is scheduled to be completed mid-year 2010. A high pressure grinding roll (HPGR) will be added in the fall of 2010 and that will bring the ultimate throughput to 130kt/d. This project has managed to stay on budget and on schedule and will deliver significant cash flow to Goldcorp for many years. This presentation will review the construction, commissioning, and ramp up of Penasquito project.
