EMESRT (Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table)

CIM Toronto 2009
Abstract A strategy for improving equipment design The Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table (EMESRT) was formally established in 2006 to facilitate engagement between global mining companies and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of surface earth moving equipment. There are currently eight EMESRT member companies with surface mining interests: Anglo American, Barrick, BHP Billiton, Freeport McMoRan, Newmont., Rio Tinto, Vale and Xstrata.
The EMESRT purpose is to accelerate development and adoption of leading practice designs for surface earth moving equipment to minimize health and safety risks to operators and maintainers. This presentation will provide an overview of the EMESRT engagement strategy for communicating mining company needs and requirements to OEMs for early incorporation in equipment design at the factory level.
An EMESRT member company representative will deliver this presentation on behalf of EMESRT. He/she will outline the EMESRT story so far and provide access to the online resource materials developed by EMESRT for human factors consideration in the design life cycle of earth moving equipment.
