Leveraging Investments for Energy Savings

Abstract Mining organizations throughout the world have raised awareness and action around
energy management initiatives. This has been achieved through various techniques from
extensive application of automation technologies to discussion forums with employees.
The critical aspect of any initiative has been its level of sustainability in the long run.
This paper will present methods used within mining operations to leverage existing
technologies for decision support and knowledge transfer relating specifically to energy
management. These methods link management direction, operational demands,
automation technologies and sustained energy savings.
