Strategic mine ventilation control: Source of potential energy savings

CIM Montreal 2007
Stephen Hardcastle,
Abstract Supplying ventilation in underground mines can be one of the most energy demanding services. Consequently, there is significant interest in reducing the overall demands of the ventilation system in such initiatives as ventilation on demand, using other alternatives to power mine vehicles to replace diesel engines.

The presentation will put into prospective various control strategies and their systems having a potential impact on the power consumption connected to ventilation.
