Elk Valley Coal’s Presentation

CIM Vancouver 2006
Abstract Elk Valley Coal’s metallurgical coal mines in western Canada represent a long-term business investment with a planning horizon that extends beyond 25 years at existing operations. Resources in the ground are large enough to potentially sustain mining well beyond the current 25-year time frame. A stable, skilled workforce is a vital component of maintaining our mining business, and the local communities in which employees reside represent a vital resource in which Elk Valley Coal needs to invest to enable it to attract and hold skilled employees. The characteristics of these mining communities give them a unique set of needs that differs from larger urban centers where most Canadians live and work.
