On March 17, 34 members of the CIM Quebec Branch participated in an evening dedicated to students. The four student speakers discussed their work-terms or end-of-term projects:
- Guillaume Lesage, a geology student, on a visit to four deposits in Morocco
- Pascal Delisle, a geology student, on LaRonde mine
- Simon Rouleau, a mining and mineralogy engineering student, on thickened and paste mining tailings: a sustainable approach for the mining industry
- Geoffrey Barden, a materials and metallurgy engineering student, on ACL analysis: a measuring device of the circulating load in an autogenous grinder.
The students’ performances were evaluated by a jury; $1,000 in prizes was awarded. The evening was sponsored by Agnico-Eagle Mines, the Quebec Mining Association, COREM, Fasken Martineau, Gestion SODEMEX inc., Instrumentation GDD inc. and Virginia Mines.
