J.-P. Vinet and Laura Mottola presenting the low gross trophy to Jauquelin Doyon of Wajax
September 11 was a gorgeous day, the perfect setting for the CIM Montreal Branch 75th anniversary golf tournament. Participants heard about P.R. Creedie, who, in 1931, was the first winner of the branch’s tournament. People took time to pause and think about all the events that have transpired around the world since those years of the Great Depression. Even imagine the change in the price of golf balls!
Around 110 golfers joined CIM President François Pelletier, Michelle Pelletier, and CIM Past President Yves Harvey on the green. The sun shone down on the course north of Montreal. It was a day of fun, with few speeches but lots of spirit. The event was organized by Jean-Paul Vinet and sponsored by Hewitt Equipment, Quebec Cartier Mining, QIT - Fer et Titane, Komatsu, Orica, and Dyno Nobel.
Branch Chair Laura Mottola energized the evening by sharing the slate of conferences and events planned for this year, leading up to the CIM Conference and Exhibition 2007 to be held in Montreal. With its theme, Energy and Mines, the annual event will be well-suited for a city sparking with energy.
