Annual general meeting of the Quebec Branch

On Monday, February 20, the elections were held for the new executive of the CIM Quebec Branch. The new team includes: Rock Gagnon, vice-chair; Guylaine Caron, treasurer; René Del Villar, director; Jean-Marc Charbonneau, chairman; Marie Fortin, secretary; Marc Constantin, out-going chairman; and Daniel Frigon, director.

After the AGM, Dean Journeaux, manager of the LabMag project and director of New Millennium Capital Corporation, presented the project, located in the valley of the Howells River in Labrador, near Schefferville. Indicated and inferred resources were 1.8 million tonnes in 2005. Commercial production is expected for 2011, at 15 million tonnes of iron pellets per year, to serve the North American and international markets. The presentation attracted 25 people, and was sponsored by l’Association minière du Québec, Carrières Polycor, Gestion SODÉMEX inc., Virginia Gold Mines, and SOQUEM INC.
