CIM National, in conjunction with the Metallurgy and Materials Society of CIM (MetSoc) and the Canadian Mineral Processors Society of CIM (CMP), was the host and producer of this prestigious International Congress which brought together close to 1,800 participants, including 1,344 conference delegates from 56 countries. Awarded by the Québec City Circle of Ambassadors and supported by the Québec City Chamber of Commerce, International Economic Development Bureau and Convention Centre, the Event of the Year award recognizes the calibre, scope and economic impact of the event on the city. The prize itself, a unique piece of art incorporating a piece of the old roof of the Château Frontenac of Québec City, is a recognition of the selfless work and dedication of James A. Finch, General Chair and the various committee members who worked tirelessly to deliver what is now known as the most impressive and best attended IMPC ever held.
