Industry leaders talk “extreme” at COM 2013

The 52nd annual Conference of Metallurgists (COM 2013) will be held at the Palais des congrès in Montreal, Canada, October 27-31, 2013. The theme for COM 2013 is focused on “Advanced materials and manufacturing for extreme environments,” and the keynote speakers, who include Kevin G. Bowcutt (Boeing, U.S.), Tresa M. Pollock (University of California, U.S.) and John Sarrao (Los Alamos National Laboratory, U.S.), will deliver engaging talks on diverse facets of this theme. They will give their insight on topics such as the challenges of hypersonic vehicle design, materials in turbine engines and advanced materials and manufacturing for extreme environments.

COM 2013 will be hosted by MS&T’13 this year, giving “extreme” opportunities for collaboration and networking as supported by all five organizing societies including The Metallurgy and Materials Society (MetSoc) of CIM, TMS, ASM, ACerS, AIST and NACE.

A record number of abstract submissions have been received, allowing the conference organizers to ensure a selection of the highest quality presentations on diverse topics to keep attendees from diverse backgrounds engaged during the conference.
