Instructor: Hooman Askari, PhD, PEng. Hooman Askari is a professor of mining engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada.  He teaches and conducts research into applications of operations research in mine planning & design and simulation of mining systems. He is the director of the industrial research consortium, the “Mining Optimization Laboratory" (MOL) sponsored by major mining companies. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta and  has extensive operational, consulting, and research experience in the area of open pit mine planning and design and simulation of minining systems. Hooman Askari is the Director and Principal Engineer at the OptiTek Mining Consulting Ltd.
