CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - 5 NOVEMBER 2012!
Abstracts are called for in the following areas:
- Tailings stacking (hydraulic or dry)
Brazil is one of the worlds major minerals mining countries and there is tremendous interest potential for applying new or evolving technology to more efficiently produce these minerals, including improving the environmental and social impacts of mining. There is particular interest in tailings disposal technologies and the adoption of thickened and paste tailings is studied and evaluated for numerous mines.
Brazil has forged ahead with the implementation of dry stacking of the sand fraction of tailings, placed by hydraulic means, for the iron ore industry, and with large filtered tailings operations in the bauxite and alumina industry. The combining these technologies, such as sand stacking of cyclone underflow (sands) while applying either paste or filtered thickening to the overflow (slimes), has considerable advantages and potential for Brazil mining.
Paste 2013 provides a tremendous opportunity for those with expertise, services or equipment for paste, thickened, filtered and dry stacking to share their knowledge. This will be the first conference of this nature in Brazil and it is anticipated that there will be a large attendance by mining companies eager to evaluate what they can gain from the new technologies, as well as to share their experiences with that part of the technologies they have implemented. A large attendance by regulators, consultants and researchers are expected to learn what of this new and promising technology is relevant to the various projects they have input to.
