Two day seminar workshop on Taking Leadership on Corporate Social Responsibility in Canada and China
at China Excutive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP
) focusing on knowledge relating to i) the business case for CSR; ii) multi-perspective collaborative approaches and; iii) the transfer of practises and training in effective CSR implementation.
Dr. Pitman Potter and Dr. Kernaghan Webb, two leading Canadian experts will be presenting on collaborative multi-perspective methods for implementing CSR strategies and for training officials and business leaders. Pitman is the director of the Asia Pacific Dispute Resolution Project and Kernaghan wrote the CSR Manual published by Industry Canada and is involved in the CSR-related work of the Canadian Business Ethics Research Network .
For the October 22 and 23 workshop seminars at CELAP, the first day involves presentations on CSR in China with researchers and experts at CELAP who are about to publish their work. The next day will involve presentations on CSR in Canada with dialogue on taking leadership in reciprocal ways moving forward. Given the CSR-related work of the Canadian Business Ethics Research Network
and the Asia Pacific Dispute Resolution Project
at the University of British Columbia, we are collaborating to focus on learning from new and emerging case studies particularly in the extractive sector.
Goals: 1) to build a stronger relationship with CELAP and through them officials and CSR researchers in China; 2) to provide up-to-date policy directions and exchange of current knowledge of CSR in both ocuntries; 3) advance understandings of and compliance measures for CSR in the global context.
