Hear from industry and community leaders about our changing industry under the conference theme, Minerals for All Seasons. Speakers will describe how tackling past challenges and understanding new conditions guides and inspires our drive for future success. Topics will include global best practices in designing and delivering projects, ensuring industry-wide practices of consistent and quality leadership, global challenges in finding and developing qualified staff, and attracting and retaining new, non-traditional industry participants, and strategies for sustainable development.

Anne Marie Toutant

Anne Marie Toutant, Vice President - Oil Sands Optimization and Integration, Suncor Energy Inc.

Anne Marie Toutant joined Suncor Energy Inc. in March 2004, holding the role of Vice President, Mining Operations until her recent appointment as Vice President, Oil Sands Optimization and Integration. A graduate of the University of Alberta with a BSc. in Mining Engineering in 1987, she has worked in the energy industry (metallurgical and thermal coal and oil sands) for 25 years. Toutant is a director of the Mining Association of Canada and participates on the executive committee Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) governance team and Community of Interest Panel. She is also an industry representative for the University of Alberta Mining Industry Advisory Committee (MIAC). Her passion is growing leaders and she enjoys mentoring relationships with individuals both within her company and outside to supplier organizations.

Toutant will open and close the plenary with powerful statements on "The Way We Were, The Way We Want To Be."

Samir Brikho is Chief Executive of AMEC plc. Appointed Chief Executive of AMEC plc in October 2006, Samir has led the transformation of AMEC into the leading supplier of high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to its customers in the world's oil and gas, minerals and metals, clean energy, environment, and infrastructure markets. Brikho holds an engineering degree, Master of Science in Thermal Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and completed the YMP Program at Insead in France in 1991, as well as completed a Senior Executive Programme, Stanford, USA in 2000.

Steve Reynish is the Executive Vice President of Oil Sands Ventures for Suncor Energy Inc. Before joining Suncor, Reynish was President of Marathon Oil Canada Corporation, and he has also held senior positions with Anglo American plc in Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. He is an international engineer with a proven track record in developing and managing large-scale operations. Reynish is a member of the Advisory Board of the Canada Institute, The Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars, Washington, D.C.

 

 

Kelly Lendsay, President and CEO, Aboriginal Human Resources Council

Kelly Lendsay, President and CEO, Aboriginal Human Resources Council
Kelly Lendsay is a social entrepreneur who is internationally recognized as one of Canada's foremost innovators of Aboriginal diversity. His career has been a series of catalytic flashpoints demonstrating that with effective networks, corporate and community goals can translate smoothly into advancing educational, employment and economic opportunities for Aboriginal people. In 2007, in recognition of their 100th anniversary, the University of Saskatchewan honoured Kelly as one of the University’s 100 Alumni of Influence – a designation given to 100 exceptional graduates whose accomplishments have influenced the growth and development of the University, the province and the world during the last century. In February 2012 he was the recipient of the Xerox - Aboriginal Financial Officers Association Excellence in Leadership National Award. Currently Lendsay is a director on CORCAN, the Correctional Service of Canada’s National Advisory Board and HIPPY Canada: Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters.

Luke Danielson, President and Co-Founder, Sustainable Development Strategies Group
Luke J. Danielson is a lawyer, professor and President of Sustainable Development Strategies Group, a non-profit research organization based in Colorado, USA that focuses on the role of mining and minerals in the sustainable development of countries and communities. Danielson led the multi-stakeholder process that developed Colorado’s current mined land reclamation legislation in the wake of the Summitville Mine bankruptcy. He has consulted to a number of governments on regulatory, legal and administrative issues in mining including Peru, Chile, Romania, Ecuador, Mozambique, and the Peoples Republic of China.

Lamoussa Salif Kabore, Ministre des Mines, des Carrières et de l'Énergie du Burkina Faso
In January 2011, Salif Lamoussa Kaboré was appointed Minister of Mining, Quarries and Energy of Burkina Faso. Before that, from 1999 to 2011, he was Director General of Burkina’s National Electricity Society, and Director General of the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1996 to 1999. Minister Kaboré has also been Chairman of Burkina’s National Society of Hydrocarbon from 1997 to 2001, and an active Member of the National Commission on Investments from 1996 to 2000. Among his numerous involvements in the community, Minister Kaboré is currently President of the National Coalition against HIV/AIDS, Chairman of the Board of Institute of Electric Engineering, and Vice-President of the West African Power Pool. Minister Kaboré holds a master degree in management from the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises de Caen (France) and a bachelor of Science degree from the University of Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire).
