In recognition of his valuable long-time contributions to CIM, and for his commitment to the development of clean coal technology in Canada.
Paul Clark holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering and a M.Sc. in Mineral Industry Management from the University of Alaska. His education in the mining business started in 1962 and he graduated from Haileybury School of Mines in 1964.
His mining career of over 30 years has included senior positions in engineering, operations, and consulting. He is a Fellow of CIM, a professional engineer in Alberta, director of the Alberta Chamber of Resources, and director of the Science Alberta Foundation. Clark is TransAltas technical representative on the Canadian Clean Power Coalition, and a trustee for Alberta Energy Research Institutes EnergyINet.
Clark is presently director of fuel supply for TransAlta Utilities, a position he has held for the past 15 years. In this capacity, he is responsible for the Alberta coal operations, by-products, strategic planning for the Centralia, Washington coal operations, research of solid fuel technologies, and due diligence on new coal opportunities.
