Barlow Memorial Medal - Past Winner 2005
Greg A. ShorelLangley, BC
In recognition of excellent coverage of the topic of 3D DC resistivity mapping in his paper submitted to CIM in February 2002.
Greg A. Shore, P.Geo has been exploring since 1966 with Barringer Research and Huntec, then in independent professional practice, and since 1979, with Premier Geophysics Inc.
The development of rough terrain 3D resistivity mapping tools began in 1976, and led to the first field 3-D geo-electric data acquisition program in 1982. Shore is grateful for research periodic funding and in-kind assistance over the period 1976 through 1992, from the Geological Survey of Canada (instrumentation development), BC Hydro and Power Authority (in situ mountainside testing and development), and the University of British Columbia through NSERC (3-D inversion codes).
Shores interest is currently focused on 3-D spectral induced polarization (IP) research, and on plasma-delivered, atmosphere-suspended electric current sinking. If you have ever hooked a sling to a Hughes 500 belly-hook (bare-handed, in dry weather), you have some idea of what the latter research issue is all about.
Shore is a member of the BC Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists, Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and SME of AIME.
