Barlow Memorial Medal - Past Winners 2004

Patrick Williams was born in the United Kingdom and graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in geology from the University of Liverpool and a Ph.D. from the University of Southampton. He subsequently Lectured in economic geology at London University before joining the National Key Centre in Economic Geology at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia, in 1990.
His main research interests are applied ore deposit geology and ore genesis with special reference to iron oxide-copper-gold deposits, Broken Hill-type deposits, and porphyry copper-gold deposits. Recent work has been focused on ore deposits and their geological settings in Australia, northern Scandinavia, New Guinea and Peru.
Peter Pollard
Peter Pollard is a consulting economic geologist and principal of Pollard & Taylor Geological Services Pty. Ltd. He is also an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the School of Earth Sciences at James Cook University, Townsville, Australia.
Peter is closely involved in research and consulting activities on porphyry, high-sulphidation and Fe-oxide Cu-Au systems mainly in Asia, South America and Australia. Together with business partner Roger Taylor, he is also involved in the presentation of professional development courses to industry on hydrothermal alteration, breccias and various types of magmatic-hydrothermal ore deposits.
