CIM Saskatoon Branch
To a vibrant and active CIM Branch, showing exemplary work in providing a relevant and regular activities program and demonstrating most effective progress in reaching the aims and objectives of the Institute. The Saskatoon Branch of CIM boasts well over 100 members. Saskatoon was the proud host of the 2003 Mine Operators' Conference which was organized by the Branch membership. Saskatchewan is fortunate to contain world-class deposits of uranium and potash, as well as significant amounts of oil and gas, gold and coal. Diamond exploration also yields promise for a future mine. The Saskatoon Branch is fortunate to have membership from all these areas of mining as well as strong support from the consulting engineering firms and industrial suppliers.
The Branch is very active with monthly meetings including uranium night, potash night, mineral processing night, geology night and students' night. There is also a strong social program that includes the annual ball in November of each year, the annual golf tournament in July with over 180 golfers, and a Ladies' Night program.
The Branch has also been successful in the past of offering scholarships to the sons and daughters of members who are in university and are embarking on a career in mining. Minerals and Metals / Minéraux et métaux.
