In recognition of his exceptional success and accomplishments in mining company management, as well as his involvement in mining industry, business and community organizations, in both leadership and support roles.
Terry Lyons has spent over 33 years in natural resource, manufacturing, real estate and merchant banking activities, with extensive experience in corporate restructuring.
He holds a B.Sc. in civil engineering and received his MBA in 1974. Terry began his career as an applications engineer and marketing specialist with Finning Tractor in the mining sector. In 1976, he joined Versatile Corporation as corporate planning manager, moving through a variety of senior positions in strategic planning, budgeting and finance, mergers and acquisitions, and project management. In 1986, he became senior vice president of Versatile Corporation and presided over the restructuring of the corporation. Terry was a managing partner of Brookfield Asset Management and in charge of the merchant banking and restructuring activities in the natural resource sector.
Terry is currently the non-executive chairman of Northgate Minerals Corporation and a director and officer of several public and private corporations. He has been active in several charitable and sports organizations. Terry is past chairman of the Mining Association of British Columbia, Trustee of the Minerals Resources Education Program of BC, past director of the Mining Association of Canada, a past governor of the Olympic Foundation of Canada, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
