Pierre Lassonde has been recognized as one of Canada’s leading experts in the gold and mining industry. He is the author of “The Gold Book, The Complete Investment Guide to Precious Metals,” which embodies his more than 25 years of experience in mining and investment and set the standard for precious metals investing.

In 1982 he co-founded Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation. Mr. Lassonde is President and Co-CEO of Franco-Nevada, a company who’s market capitalization of over $2.5 billion ranks in the top 50 in size among Canadian companies comprising the S&P/TSE 60 Index.

He has received many awards and honours including: the Hall of Fame Award from the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah (April 2001); the Engineering Medal, Entrepreneurship Category, from the Professional Engineers of Ontario (April 1999); “Mining Developers of the Year” (March 1999) along with his business partner, from the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada; Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Utah (February 1999); and “Mining Men of the Year” 1997 also with his business partner, by the Northern Miner.

Mr. Lassonde is a Canadian philanthropist in the fields of education, healthcare and social welfare. The University of Toronto named its Lassonde Mineral Engineering Program and Lassonde Mining Institute in his honour.
